Tyson de Mexico Donates Computers to Schools

The group expects to donate more than 125 units in the next few weeks through its non-profit organization, Computacion Para Niños.

“We are really excited about this program, as are the schools,” says John Kincke, director of finance for Tyson de Mexico.

Computacion Para Niños purchases fully depreciated computers (ones slated for equipment rotation with five or more years of age) from Tyson de Mexico for one peso each (approximately ten cents in USD) and donates them to local schools that cannot afford to include them in their budgets.

“We set up the infrastructure for the systems, secure parent and teacher involvement, and train the children on site,” Kincke says. The group has also accepted donations from Scotiabank to purchase the training software and manuals that will be used to introduce children to computers. The first school to receive the computer systems was in Lerdo, outside Torreon.

“We have done a lot of work to get to this point and I want to recognize the contributions from the following people that led to this successful inauguration today: Manuel Martinez, Rey Omar Navarette, Rodolfo Duran, and Rene Sandoval,” Kincke says.
