Hunter-Style Chicken Wings

Hunter Style Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 12 Chicken Wings (2.5 lb. bag), thawed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, or more if needed
  • 1 package white mushrooms, 8-oz., sliced or 1 package cremini mushrooms , 8-oz., sliced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, 14 1/2-oz.
  • 1 cup dry white wine or 1 cup dry vermouth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped or 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves


Cooking Instructions

  1. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Put flour in resealable plastic bag. Add wings to bag a few at a time; shake to coat.
  2. Heat oil in large, deep nonstick pot over medium-high. Cook wings in batches, about 6 minutes per batch, until golden brown, adding additional oil if necessary.
  3. Add mushrooms, tomatoes, wine, thyme and all of chicken to pot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until chicken is done (internal temp 180°F). Taste sauce and season with additional salt and pepper if needed.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with pasta, rice or potatoes. Refrigerate leftovers.
